Dedicated projector development
Barco focuses on the latest display technologies to bring the greatest sense of realism to simulators. Today, these technologies are DLP (single-chip and three-chip) and LCoS, which stand out as the most reliable guarantees for a superior image quality. Barco has made several optimizations to these technologies, including smearing reduction for fast-moving images, and full night vision goggle (NVG) compatibility for night training scenarios. In addition to this, Barco also readies its projectors for simulation setups that typically require more than one projector to create an immersive image:
- electronic and optical blending to smoothen out overlap zones
- color and brightness equalization across the entire image
- geometry corrections to ensure the right image on curved surfaces
Dedicated screen technology
To make sure all the overall system performance is of an outstanding quality, Barco has developed customized front and rear screen solutions for the most demanding applications.
With wide horizontal and vertical viewing angles, and the right technology to maintain consistent corner-to-corner brightness levels, Barco screens strongly reduce hot spots, eliminate noise and are matched precisely to the type of projection technology utilized.
Mechanical engineering
Barco has designed a wide range of versatile, modular, off-the-shelf structures and state-of-the-art CAD-tools to design new concepts accurately and reliably. In-house mechanical engineering facilities include an advanced model shop, full-fledged mechanics and plastics departments.
Installation and maintenance software
For accurate and fast alignment of complex multi-projector display systems to their optimal capabilities, Barco has developed its own easy-to-use realignment tool suite, laser array system and dedicated software, which minimizes maintenance time and increases system uptime.
