Barco creates a new division structure and internationalizes its Executive Committee

Kortrijk, December 5 2003. Barco announces that the BarcoProjection division will be subdivided into three new divisions, the previous business units of BarcoProjection.

This reorganization fits within the larger Barco concern to be market-oriented, a priority which has always been characteristic of company operations and has resulted in Barco's successful growth. The aim of this reorganization is to bring Barco closer to its customers and to enlarge the international segment of its various markets without thereby increasing costs. Accordingly, the responsibilities of the different branches and national organizations are being adapted in this sense to enable greater flexibility in the sales activities of the different product groups. Indeed, the different product groups are becoming increasingly active in the same markets, which makes an extensive account management necessary. At the same time, costs are being cut in the foreign organizations by centralizing support functions such as marketing communication, HR management and financial services per region or country.

The Presidents of the new divisions being created out of the currently existing BarcoProjection division will become members of the Barco Executive Committee. These three individuals, who are set to become members of the highest operational body in the Barco organization, are Carl Peeters for Barco Control Rooms, Stephan Paridaen for Barco Media & Entertainment and Michel Vandeplas for Barco Presentation & Simulation. The current President of BarcoProjection, Luc Kindt, will become President of Global Sales & Service. His duties will include coordinating the activities of the three Regional Presidents who are responsible for Europe, North America, South America, Japan and the rest of the Asia-Pacific Region. These Regional Presidents are also members of the Barco Executive Committee. One of them is the newly appointed President of the North American Region, Dave Scott, who will be combining this new position with his current job as Executive Vice President BarcoView USA and COO Command & Control, thus becoming the first American to join the ranks of the Barco Executive Committee.
