FREE! Barco projects blended multi-channel stereo at full resolution direct from PC or workstation with “i-Blend”
Barco’s proprietary developed “i-Blend” is a worldwide first to produce a two-channel blend for passive stereo projection at full resolution from a single high bandwidth PC or workstation (>170 MHz). The Barco “i-Blend software” is integrated in Barco SIM6 MKII, SIM6 Ultra, SIM6 MM, SIM4 and Galaxy WARP™ projectors and available free of charge for upgrade.
All graphic workstations and PC’s with a high-resolution output (> 2,304 x 1,024 @60Hz) can, thanks to Barco i-Blend, be used to project in 2 edge-blended channels at full resolution. This is done in a fully transparent way: each digital Barco projector defines the appropriate split and overlap zone to produce a blended left and right channel. As most current graphic boards feature two outputs, one output can be used for the left eye picture and a second for the right eye picture. Linear as well as circular polarization or Infitec can be used to create the stereo effect.
i-Blend eliminates the need for expensive and bandwidth limiting intermediate image processing boxes. Hence, the projector’s high bandwidth is maintained, resulting in a higher image quality. The exceptional high bandwidth of Barco projectors can easily handle future evolutions in graphic board performance.

i-Blend has been successfully implemented with a.o. SGI® Octane2™, SGI® Onyx2™, SGI® Onyx™ 3000-series and off-the-shelf PC to drive a 2-channel edge-blended stereo CADWall™ at full SXGA resolution.
Installed Barco V&AR projectors can be upgraded in the field at travel and installation cost. List of upgradeable projectors is available on request.
