Barco introduces plug and play grayscale LCD upgrade kit for legacy PACS CRT systems
KORTRIJK, BELGIUM, 22 August, 2003 – Barco has developed an LCD-based upgrade solution for legacy medical grayscale CRT systems. The new MeDis® upgrade kit combines all the benefits of advanced flat panel technology (compactness, energy efficiency, long life cycle and low cost of ownership) with the full compatibility of a true plug and play replacement solution.
The kit bundles one or two LCD review displays, a MediCal® Pro QA software update and a user-friendly upgrade wizard into a high-performance medical imaging solution without the need to replace the existing analog imaging boards. The plug and play kit upgrades legacy medical CRT displays with improved image quality and up-to-date QA management. The MeDis® upgrade kit features one or two color-matched 2 MegaPixel (1200 x 1600 resolution) flat panel displays. The 20.1" displays’ short response time and high contrast ratio (1000:1) make them ideally suited for moving images. The supplied MediCal® Pro software update allows users to update their Barco QA management software for use with the new flat panel displays. MediCal® Pro, combined with the integrated I-Guard® sensor on the LCD displays, provides fully automated image Quality Assurance. Furthermore, the kit features an easy-to-use upgrade wizard and driver updates for optimal compatibility with the existing analog input board. Drivers are available for WinNT, Win2000 and WinXP platforms.
Barco’s MeDis® upgrade kit is PIN-compatible. PIN, Barco’s integrated Product Intelligence, is a revolutionary concept that ensures worry-free diagnostic reading and image distribution by means of “intelligent” medical display technology. Intelligence embedded in the MeDis® upgrade kit includes the integrated unique I-Guard® sensor, which assures continuous and consistent DICOM-compliant viewing and maintains softcopy image quality for optimum diagnostic confidence without the need for manual QA intervention.
