Bower Roebuck selects WeaveMaster system for real-time production monitoring
Barco is pleased to announce that Bower Roebuck & Co Ltd have selected the latest Windows 2000 based WEAVEMASTER production monitoring system for installation in their state-of-the-art West Yorkshire factory. With Barco’s WEAVEMASTER system, users will have access to real-time monitoring and reporting information, which will guarantee optimum quality of their fabrics. As a weaver of some of the most luxurious apparel fabrics in the world, Bower Roebuck have been supplying high value worsted cloth to leading designers, garment makers, merchants and tailors since 1899.
The Barco WEAVEMASTER system will be connected to 20 Dornier PTV6/S26 looms via Ethernet, using the Dialog II panels to allow input of downtime declarations, piece changes, ... Customer advantages include reduced cost as no additional hardware or cabling is required and enhanced user comfort as existing (Dornier) machine control panels are used. Barco has been working closely with Dornier to realize this improved user-friendliness and the contract with Bower Roebuck is already the third of this kind in Europe. The WEAVEMASTER system will not only provide users with real-time monitoring and reporting information but will also facilitate planning, a key factor in Bower Roebuck’s opting for Barco equipment as they often have to produce small quantities with short lead-times. With Barco’s WEAVEMASTER, the planning department now has a powerful tool to optimize loom loading using real-time information.
All quality and production information will be stored in the relational database of the Barco system, which also communicates with the Bower Roebuck ERP system to supply information for managing yarn and fabric inventories, labeling of products, payroll and accounting.
In addition to connecting the looms to the system, Bower Roebuck will also connect four warping machines, five Dataweave sample looms and a drawing-in machine. This will ensure that all their manufacturing processes are centralized on the WEAVEMASTER system.
