Barco launches industry standard medical display system ‘NIO®’ at SCAR 2003
SCAR 2003, Boston, MA, USA, June 7, 2003 - Barco is pleased to announce the introduction of NIO®, a brand-new line of industry standard grayscale display systems for day-to-day medical viewing. NIO® is Barco’s answer to meet the growing need for cost-effective yet high-quality medical display systems. With NIO®, Barco offers medical professionals a flexible solution for a multitude of medical imaging applications, including PACS, CT, MRI and angiography.
NIO® is a complete product line, available in 2MP, 3MP and 5MP resolutions and single- or dual-head configurations. NIO® systems combine a slim, high-bright grayscale LCD display featuring Backlight Output Stabilization (BLOS®), a high-speed display controller and NIOWATCH® software for continuous DICOM-compliant viewing. To ensure long-term image confidence, NIO® features Backlight Output Stabilization. Barco’s BLOS® technology guarantees fast power-up and continuously stabilizes the luminance output of the LCD’s backlight, which significantly improves the overall consistency of all NIO® display systems. NIO® display systems are driven by BARCOMED® high-speed display controllers, generating 256 simultaneous shades of gray out of a palette of 1024. In addition, the dual-head display controllers, featuring Barco’s proprietary AURA technology, offer ultra-fast image loading and realistic image representation. NIO® display systems come standard with NIOWATCH®, a software solution which optimizes the LCD panel for DICOM-compliant viewing. In a few easy steps, users can set their display system in accordance with DICOM part 14, the directive for viewing medical images. As a result, NIO® flat panel displays are perceptually linearized, ensuring an accurate image representation at all times.
“With Nio®, Barco markets quality, cost-effective solutions for standard medical viewing applications”, summarizes Lynda Domogalla, Barco’s Medical Imaging Systems Marketing Manager.
