Fruit of the Loom orders a third KITMaster System

About 2 years ago, BARCO took over the KIT system business from Truetzschler. KIT is a very powerful production and quality management system for Truetzschler's cards and draw frames.

Recently, BARCO introduced a Windows-based package called KITMaster, which is the successor of the original Truetzschler KIT system. The new KITMaster system uses all the features which today’s PC server world offers.

The KITmaster offers in the first place sliver quality data. The sliver CV% is continuously monitored for all connected machines. In case a deviation from a set standard occurs, the card or draw frame will be flagged and/or stopped by KITMaster. This allows the spinning plant to produce 100% good sliver without having to go through the hassle of taking sliver samples for testing in the lab. Further, KITMaster offers sliver spectrogram analysis in a real time mode.

The new package is also fit to take data from Truetzschler’s NCT neps counting device. KITMaster reports neps, trash and seed coat fractions as a trend over time. This allows spotting cards with a wire problem and allows a better planning of wire grinding cycles. The KITmaster will also trend the recorded thick places as they occur in the sliver.

The known limitations of the original KIT are no longer present. KITMaster can handle up to 125 machines, which allows to connect all cards and draw frames to just one system. Users can view KITMaster data from the PC on their desk, as the new system is fully compatible with the mill’s PC-network.

KITMaster is using Oracle as data base structure. It offers user-definable reporting, flexible data import from and export to other systems and has an extended history-reporting feature. The wire management module has been completely re-worked for higher user friendliness.

New is also the fact that KITMaster can be integrated with BARCO's other spinning related systems, such as OE-Master for production and quality monitoring of OE frames.

Upgrading KIT installations to KITMaster is just a question of replacing the PC by a new PC-server and connecting it to the mill’s PC-network. The wiring in the mill and also the Truetzschler FTB1 data communication interfaces remain in use.

Fruit of the Loom has upgraded its KIT system installed in the Leesburg plant and went for a KITMaster system for the Rabun Gap plant some months ago. Now BARCO has been honored with a third order to monitor production and quality of the 60 new Truetzschler cards, with integrated draw frame IDF, to be installed at the Williamston / NC plant.
