BARCO Announces Alliance with DELL for the U.S. Healthcare Market
KORTRIJK, BELGIUM - Dell and BARCO, designer and manufacturer of high-resolution display systems, today announced an alliance to provide advanced workstations to the U.S. healthcare market. The two companies will bundle BARCO graphics adapters and high performance displays with Dell Precision Workstations in the United States. The workstations will be used to view medical images, such as x-rays, MRIs and CAT-scans.
The agreement enables Dell to offer its healthcare customers workstations customized for the unique needs of radiologists, x-ray technicians, doctors and other medical personnel. Because the new workstations include BARCO’s advanced graphics cards and drivers pre-loaded in Dell’s factory, healthcare customers can purchase the systems ready-to-go. ’Our healthcare customers have been asking for a powerful, industry-standard workstation’, said Bill Rodrigues, Dell’s vice president and general manager, education and healthcare, ’with BARCO, we’re now able to offer a workstation with advanced graphics, making it much easier for our healthcare customers to view medical images right in the lab or medical office.’ High performance workstations used by the medical community require periodic ’recalibrations’ to make sure the systems are displaying shades of gray accurately.
