BARCO Selected by DRS Ltd. (Europe) for MRFD Modular Rugged Flat Panel Displays
EUROSATORY, Villepinte, France - BarcoView has been selected by DRS Rugged Systems (Europe) Ltd, to supply eighty 21.3” Modular Rugged Flat Panel Displays (MRFD) for use within its OPUS2 console for a European Mine Hunter program.
DRS Ltd. will integrate the displays in a variety of the DRS OPUS2 dual-head multi-functional consoles, which will be configured for use in command & control and sonar applications.Barco’s MRFD was selected for its unique LCD flicker compensation (LFC) and automatic phase adjust (APA), guaranteeing flicker-free, sharp and consistent images at all times. The MRFD has 1600x1200 resolution and complies with stringent environmental specifications. The MRFD354 display’s front filter has been bonded to the LCD, resulting in a superior optical performance (contrast) and avoiding any potential humidity problems.Barco’s MRFD range of rugged flat panels has been designed for demanding C4I applications that require viewing graphics, video and other RGB data on a single display. The modular approach of the MRFD, featuring a Display Module driven by a Display Control Module, allows users to select their preferred LCD , resolution and graphics processing functionality from Barco’s COTS offering. The mixing functionality incorporated in the MRFD results in a total, low-cost solution for image overlay and mixing, with no need for separate graphics cards to be installed.
