BARCO Launches Avionics MFD 6.8/1 Single Box
FARNBOROUGH INTERNATIONAL, UK - At this year’s Farnborough Air Show, BarcoView is proud to present its newest high-performance avionics primary flight display MFD-6.8/1 single box, which is a variant of the existing split box unit. Besides the newest MFD-6.8/1, Barco also introduces its first 15” large screen avionics Multi- Function Display MFD12.9/1 as a technology demonstrator. Both the MFD-6.8/1 single box and 15” large screen MFD-12.9/1 are the newest additions to the Barco Avionics Family of Multi Function Displays and will also be presented at NBAA and Airlift/Tanker in the US later this year.
The Barco Avionics Family of Multi-Function Displays is based upon a modular open system architecture, both for the hardware and software. Several bezel options are available allowing the MFD to fit into various avionics architectures for both new and retrofit aircraft and the user is free to design and use its own software on the Barco platforms. Barco’s Multi-Function Displays are fitted in numerous fixed wing and rotary wing platforms such as PC-21, Antonov AN-124, Super Puma MK1, V-22 Osprey, SARAS and T-33 Silver Star. Barco’s MFD-6.8/1 single box is a Multi-Function, primary flight instrumentation display with a sunlight readable 6” x 8” Active Matrix Liquid Crystal Display. AMLCD technology provides high brightness, excellent contrast and reduced volume with low power consumption. The MFD-6.8/1 features a digital video and power cross-link for redundancy purposes. The MFD-6.8/1 single box unit has a limited integration depth of 143 mm (5.6”). Barco’s MFD-12.9/1 large screen avionics display is a Multi-Function, primary flight instrumentation display with a 12” x 9” viewing area. The cost-effective display, featuring an extremely wide viewing angle, presents life-critical aircraft data with excellent brightness and contrast. The MFD-12.9/1 is mainly developed for use in Military and Civil Air Transport and is now presented for the first time at Farnborough as a technology demonstrator.
