BARCO Introduces DICOM THEATER®, the First DICOM-Compliant Medical Projection System
RSNA, Chicago, IL, USA - BARCO has united its cross-competences and wide expertise in medical imaging and high-end projectors and launches DICOM THEATER®, the world’s first DICOM-compliant projection system. DICOM THEATER® provides DICOM- compliant, consistent large screen image quality for review, consulting and training applications in hospitals.
Barco’s DICOM THEATER® is a multi-purpose DICOM-compliant projection system, which bundles a high bright, 1 MegaPixel medical grade projector (MGP 10), greyscale flat panel display, dedicated BARCOMED® greyscale imaging board and MEDICAL® Pro QA management software. DICOM THEATER® facilitates review and consulting applications through calibrated greyscale display characteristics. It is configurable in landscape and portrait to match the PACS viewing needs. DICOM THEATER® combines ClearBase and BlueBase modes and has a user-friendly remote control, offering an intuitive user inter. Furthermore, it features versatile connectivity to add a multitude of both and greyscale medical application sources, including PACS, X-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy and PC inputs. Redundant and reliable operation is offered through an innovative dual-lamp system within the medical grade projector.The DICOM THEATER® Medical Projection System is PIN-compatible. PIN, Barco’s integrated Product Intelligence concept, ensures consistent and continuous DICOM-compliant viewing by means of “intelligent” medical display technology. Intelligence embedded in Barco’s DICOM THEATER® includes the integrated unique I-GUARD® sensor, which constantly guards the luminance output, DICOM conformance and greyscale stability of both the projector and review display, without the need for user intervention. DICOM THEATER® also features Barco’s MEDICAL® PRO software, which provides automated softcopy QA management. The software tracks, maintains and logs viewing performance of the projector and review display.DICOM THEATER® will be available in single- and dual-head configurations from April 2003 onwards through specialized system integrators and distribution channels, active in PACS and other medical imaging applications and typically handling the BarcoView Medical Imaging products.
