BARCO Awarded Multi-Million Euro Deal to Supply its MEDIS® Diagnostic Display Systems
Kortrijk, November 7, 2002, BARCO has been selected to supply its acclaimed MEDIS® medical greyscale display systems for installation at key sites of the Chang Gung Memorial Hospital (CGMH) in Taiwan.
Chang Gung Memorial Hospital (CGMH), owned by the industrial consortium Formosa Plastics of Taiwan, is one of the largest private hospital groups in Asia. CGMH has recently embarked on an ambitious PACS project and has chosen BARCO for its medical imaging display needs. For this project BARCO will deliver a large quantity of its MeDis® display systems as well as some of its newest CORONIS® flat panel display systems.Mr. Vincent Hung, Director of the Medical Information Department of CGMH, comments: “The Chang Gung Memorial Hospital is known for its high standard of patient care as well as for its modern infrastructure and facilities. It is therefore no surprise that for its PACS project CGMH has chosen BARCO. The local presence of BARCO in Taiwan is obviously an additional reason for CGMH’s decision”.
BARCO’s MeDis® display systems are designed to deliver exceptional image quality conform with international standards for medical imaging (DICOM) and consistent with the critical requirements for clinical and diagnostic reading. Each MeDis® system consists of one or more high-resolution greyscale displays, a single or dual-head high-speed display controller and a dedicated softcopy QA management software package.
