Avondale upgrades BARCO system
Avondale's EVA JANE plant (Sylacauga / AL) uses BARCO's plant management system for the monitoring of the denim weaving machines and for the quality inspection of the finished denim.
Some 10 years ago, the system was first installed and helped improving efficiency as well as quality. Special is the optimized cutting software which proposes where to cut the big rolls into shippable pieces, maximizing the first quality yield. Now, Avondale orders the latest version of BARCO's weaving and inspection software. Extensive benchmarking has proven that the BARCO cut optimization is still superior to other products.
For denim weavers, cut optimization of the finished fabric means an increase of 1-2% in first quality shippable yards. Consequently, the payback of such an investment is extremely short. At the same time, the denim fabric customers are assured that all pieces received fulfill the quality definitions as far as minimum and maximum piece length, defects per 100 yards, defect concentration, number of seams, etc. are concerned.
