Mount Vernon Mills selects BARCO as system supplier
Mount Vernon Mills, one of the largest textile producers in the U.S., operates plants in South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, California, and Texas. The privately owned company makes diverse products such as denim, print cloth, bottom weight fabrics, pocketing material, and decorative fabrics for upholstery.
The Brenham Plant, located in Brenham, Texas has recently ordered a Barco system as the production and quality management system for their operation. The Windows 2000 based WeaveMaster and OEmaster packages will be installed to report production and quality data from spinning and weaving. This system also includes monitoring of spinning preparation and warp preparation, covering all of the greige processes at the Brenham facility. Quality information from the plant's Schlafhorst rotor spinning frames will be collected through the Corolab Quality Monitoring System, which clears defects from the yarn and provides instant, continuous on-line data about CV%, IPI, and spectrogram defects.
All quality and production information will be in stored in the relational database of the Barco system, which will also communicate with the company's ERP system to supply information for managing yarn and fabric inventories, labeling of products, payroll and accounting.

This order confirms that fabric producers are moving away from the concept of installing a different computer system, in many cases from different vendors, in every department of their mill. More and more a total plant solution is preferred. The flexible reporting capabilities of the Barco System allow users to easily design their own mill layouts, reports, graphs, and calculations, so that each user can access the precise information needed to help them manage their area. The system's Graphical User Interface, which is the same for every department, means that training time for operators, technicians, managers, and planning personnel is greatly reduced.
The Brenham installation is the 10th Barco weaving system to be installed in a Mount Vernon plant. Other Barco systems in Mount Vernon include inspection and cut optimization, spinning, warping and winding.
