ODEON CINEMAS CAPTAIN A WINNING TEAM WITH KEYTEQ AND BARCO

Four Odeon Cinemas in the UK hit a winning streak this summer as they showed off their innovative digital technology skills by screening England’s World Cup first round matches to lucky members of the public.

Free seats in Odeon Cinemas at Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester and Newcastle, were won by footy freaks nationwide whose fortunes flourished in a scratch card competition run by Odeon Cinemas. Was this to be the ultimate trophy? Quite possibly as Odeon Cinemas matched the ball-juggling skills of Beckham and Owen, by showcasing their own digital technology skills with a team of four Barco SLM G5 digital projectors showing “alternative” content beyond film. England may not have made it beyond the Quarter Finals but Odeon Cinemas played a blinder and won unanimous support from England fans.

The team of Barco SLM G5 projectors were kitted out with long throw lenses and projected images up to 10.9m wide and 6.4m high.

Keyteq Presentation Services Ltd, based in Altrincham, Cheshire, provided the Barco SLM G5 projectors having themselves expanded their rental fleet by investing in the digital technology earlier this year. Established in March 2000 Keyteq has carved a reputation for offering technical solutions and on-site expertise coupled with the very latest technology.

Marc John, Head of Odeon Digital, praised Keyteq’s service stating “Keyteq performed outstandingly” and he went on to confirm that Odeon Digital were very pleased with every aspect of Keyteq’s service. “We will definitely be calling you again when future projects arise and I look forward to the ongoing relationship” Marc told Keyteq director Joanne Johnson, “please thank all your team of technicians for their great efforts” he concluded.

The Odeon Cinema, Leicester Square, also screened England’s World Cup campaign using their Barco D-Cine Premiere MkVII projector supplied by TDC (Technicolor Digital Cinema). The Barco D-Cine projector boasts Texas Instruments’ state-of-the-art “dark metal” Digital Micromirror device, exclusively approved by Hollywood for feature film display. With the added facility offered by Barco’s ACSAR unit (Alternative Content Switcher and Router), alternative content – in this case England’s World Cup heroes – could be shown.
