BARCO Networked Daylight Displays Begin Rollout in the Advertising industry.
Kuurne, Belgium, May 15, 2002BARCO announced today that E-Advertising, a part of the giant Swiss media group AFFICHAGE HOLDING, has purchased three giant daylight displays which it will install as a network of high-resolution displays throughout one of Switzerland’s most prominent transit points: the busy Bern train station. E-Advertising will use the daylight displays for advertising purposes, thereby beginning the process of replacing the traditional print posters usually found at such locations by dynamic, high-impact displays which offer the advertiser a unique interactive advertising medium.
E-Advertising, one of the early adopters of BARCO’s revolutionary networked display solutions for advertising purposes, has divided the 27 square meters ILite 8 it bought into three displays measuring 9 square meters each. Two of the displays have been placed on the main platform of the train station, while the third screen is found in the hallway that leads to a major regional departure platform. The advertising content for each display can be custom made, while the system also allows for rapid scheduling updates and alterations to in order for the advertising to remain applicable to everything from changing weather conditions to upcoming events and last minute announcements. BARCO’s revolutionary ILite 8 display product, which forms part of the ILite product range encompassing 3mm, 6 mm, 8 mm and 10mm products, is renowned for its high-resolution and sharp color contrasts; making it ideal for the new breed of dynamic advertising applications.
Peter Buchs, CTO, E-Advertising AG stated: “We are continually striving to offer our customers the best advertising solution on the market. We are extremely pleased with our purchase of the Barco system – a networked display solution that heralds the dawning of the interactive advertising industry. BARCO’s dedication to quality products and superior engineering allows us to provide our advertisers with the most revolutionary advertising medium on the market today. There is no other medium which offers the flexibility of installation or content management – indoor or out - and yet delivers the impact of these dynamic displays.”
Marco Bruines, Division Manager, Barco Media adds: “At Barco Media we are convinced that our technology is changing the way mass communication is practiced. Our networked display solution lends itself perfectly to be used as advertising medium and as such has already attracted the attention of many of the world’s leading outdoor media companies. No doubt the surge on this medium will only increase as the benefits and results of using it become obvious to the advertiser.”
