Digital Cinema rollout begins
Boeing Digital Cinema Places Order for Substantial Amount of Barco D-Cine Premiere Digital Cinema Projectors for Installation Across United States.
Las Vegas, March 5, 2002.Barco Digital Cinema has announced that the Digital Cinema rollout has begun with the first quantity buy and implementation. Boeing Digital Cinema will purchase a sizeable quantity of Barco’s next generation high-performance D-Cine Premiere Digital Cinema projectors. This is the first purchase of its kind in the industry. Boeing Digital Cinema is a business of The Boeing Company (NYSE: BA).
Boeing Digital Cinema offers a direct-to-cinema delivery system, which securely transmits first-run movies and alternative programming via satellite and fiber-optic network.
Barco’s new digital cinema projector combines exclusive Barco designed features along with an enhanced Texas Instruments DLP Cinema Dark Metal 3 micromirror device, which offers 25% higher contrast (1250:1) than the previous TI DLP Cinem engine. In addition, the D-Cine Premiere has an exclusive set of advanced features, including a completely sealed, dust-proof engine, for consistent image contrast throughout its life and Barco’s proprietary Constant Light Output for consistent image brightness. In addition, the projector features local and remote touch-screen projector control options and local and remote (Ethernet) diagnostics.
