Barco LED Video Displays Selected for Reliant Park
Barco chosen to provide Indoor and Outdoor LED video displays for the new home of the NFL Texans and the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo
Kennesaw, GA - January 10, 2001 - Barco, a world leader in large-scale video displays, has announced they have been awarded the contract to supply and install a mix of seven indoor and outdoor LED video displays at the new Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas, the first retractable roof NFL Football and Rodeo stadium. The Barco LED displays will be installed prior to the new NFL Houston Texans’ highly anticipated opening game against the Dallas Cowboys on September 8, 2002. The stadium will also host the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and the 2004 Superbowl. Barco will provide two 27’ high x 96’ wide DLite 14 LED displays for the North and South end zones. The displays, which are configured in a very wide 32:9 aspect ratio, will display two full-resolution, high-definition 16:9 aspect ratio images side-by-side, as well as an ultra-wide 32:9 aspect ratio image. The high-resolution, multi-images are made possible by using the proprietary Barco D320 image-processing system. The North and South end zone displays will be used for stunning live image magnification, replays, and graphics during football games, rodeos and other events held in Reliant Stadium. In addition, Barco will provide four 7’ x 12’ ILite LED displays to be located on the Stadium Club Level areas of the stadium. Barco will also provide one DLite 14 LED display that will be located in the “Bud Plaza” for pre and post event activities. In addition to the LED display systems, Barco will also provide an unspecified number of large-screen video projectors and other visual display products for use throughout this unique facility.
