BarcoProjection scores a major breakthrough in the US sports market
BarcoProjection supplies state-of-the-art imaging solution for ‘Superbowl 2004’ in USA
Kortrijk, January 9, 2002, BarcoProjection, leader in solutions for large- screen visualization has been awarded a contract to supply seven indoor and outdoor LED walls totaling more than 500 square meters and with a total contract value approaching 10 million Euro at the new Reliant Park Stadium in Houston, Texas. In addition to the LED systems, BARCO will also provide a number of large-screen video projectors and other visual display products for use throughout this unique facility. Deliveries will take place in the first half of 2002.
The Reliant Stadium, which will host not only the 2004 Superbowl – the large-scale finals of the American football competition – but will also become the new home of the NFL Texans and the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, is the first ever retractable roof NFL Football and Rodeo Stadium.
BarcoProjection has been selected for this prestigious project as it is the only supplier that can provide the customer with all the requested visualization technology. Furthermore, the unique image processing system of BARCO makes it possible to show several images on the screen at the same time. These images are suited for live transmission of the new USA Digital TV format. These unique advantages BarcoProjection has over its competitors have given rise to an important strategic breakthrough of BarcoProjection in the US sports market. Previously, BARCO’s state-of-the-art displays were used mainly for large-scale events and media applications. Being chosen for a fixed installation for a key US sports location such as Reliant Park, means an important reference for BARCO in the US sports market.
Other new constructions at Reliant Park include a state-of-the-art production facility being built by Rodeo Houston, an Audio/Video Provider to support the BARCO displays.
