Riverside County Regional Medical Center completes technology refresh using exclusively Barco medical displays and QA software
In an effort to upgrade its comprehensive network of diagnostic and clinical review displays, Riverside County Regional Medical Center (RCRMC) has installed Barco's flagship products, including the Coronis Fusion 6MP DL, Coronis 5MP, Nio Fusion 4MP and MDRC-2120 displays, in addition to implementing MediCal QAWeb to perform medical Quality Assurance on all displays.
Duluth, Georgia, USA – 18 November, 2010 – Medical imaging specialist Barco has completed a hospital-wide deployment of medical imaging displays at Riverside County Regional Medical Center, with a concentration in their surgical suites, the emergency department, radiology reading rooms, mammography, and outpatient clinics throughout the medical center. RCRMC originally sought to replace its mammography displays that were reaching end-of-life, and found that after evaluating workstations throughout the facility, a total technology refresh was required. “When we realized that we needed to upgrade our entire fleet of medical imaging displays, we knew we wanted to go with Barco as our exclusive supplier – especially after witnessing the absolute clarity and image quality of their mammography displays,” commented Elizabeth Kleiner, PACS System Administrator for RCRMC.Barco's MediCal QAWeb software was also an important factor in the purchasing decision. RCRMC strongly desired a medical display QA software tool that could automatically conduct quality assurance tasks such as performing diagnostics, routine tests, adjustments and other assessments from a centralized workstation without disrupting physicians during their working day. “MediCal QAWeb is a huge asset to us, reducing the manpower needed to keep our entire medical imaging display installed base running at an optimum level. And, the reports I can produce to monitor utilization, luminance, and DICOM calibration are great – some are even generated automatically and emailed to me,” continued Kleiner. The industry's first and only online service for automated quality assurance of PACS displays, MediCal QAWeb provides remote, secure management to ensure consistent display performance and image quality.
The Coronis Fusion 6MP DL diagnostic displays are among a growing family of high-resolution diagnostic displays for use in a PACS environment, featuring the industry's only 30” color unit, which can be used as two seamless 3MP heads or one 6MP widescreen display. Its high-resolution color/grayscale image presentation is ideal for multi-modality imaging on a single screen. “Our radiologists are very happy with the Coronis Fusion 6MP, especially its ability to facilitate viewing two or multiple images, color and grayscale, on a single display,” continued Kleiner.
Barco's 2MP MDRC-2120 displays provide a versatile solution for use in clinical settings. The MDRC-2120 features a high-quality LCD panel, which provides a superior viewing experience for physicians, at the point of patient care, with better contrast, higher brightness and a wider viewing angle than conventional computer monitors. The display is DICOM-compliant “out of the box,” and offers long-term image consistency as a result of continuous LCD backlight stabilization.
“Riverside County Regional Medical Center's commitment to delivering high quality patient care manifests itself in every area of the hospital, as evidenced by their investment in Barco's best-in-class medical display technology for its healthcare providers. We're glad to play a role in helping this fine institution consistently maintain an excellent standard of care,” commented Kurt DeYoung, Director of Sales, Medical Imaging for Barco North America.
