Barco’s universal visualization platform facilitates interactive decision-making for Swedish fire brigades
Kortrijk, Belgium, 4 May 2010. AV specialist Impact Europe and Barco, a global leader in visualization technology, have implemented their universal visualization technology and knowledge at several Swedish fire brigades control centers. The technology, consisting of Barco's control room management suite combined with a networked hardware platform will allow them to optimize the information flow in order to support fast and coordinated reactions at critical times.
The Swedish fire brigades have over 200 control centers and work with almost 20,000 fire fighters, so getting information distributed is crucial for a good operation. Previously, Barco's Control room Management Suite (CMS) software and hardware were installed in the control centers of Linkoping, Göteborg, Hasselholm, Karlstad, Lulea, Orebro, Ostersund and Västeras. Now, both companies will provide the Swedish fire brigades with the opportunity to network these centers based on the already installed equipment, without major additional costs. A big advantage of having networked control rooms for the fire brigades is that they can bring crucial independent information together to different points of decision making within their local organization, but also to external stakeholders such as the police, emergency services, town council, hospitals and many more.“Thanks to its scalability the system provided by Barco can be easily implemented in various phases,” comments Christer Norden from Impact Europe. “We can start by offering our customers a basic component and gradually build up the system according to their needs and budget.”
