Barco launches dedicated Grade-1 monitor for film and post-production houses
KORTRIJK, Belgium, 16 April 2009 – Barco is pleased to introduce a dedicated film and post-production version of its award-winning 23-inch Grade-1 reference monitor. The new RHDM-2301P monitor offers a high contrast range, perfect black detail and a stabilized wide color gamut, and will better address the needs of film and post-production professionals.
Barco's RHDM-2301P is specifically targeted at a wide range of film and post-production applications: on-set and dailies viewing, film scanning and restoration, various digital intermediate processes such as color grading, visual effects, computer generated images and digital film mastering, as well as post-production of trailers, commercials, music etc.
The RHDM-2301P offers a high contrast and excellent black detail, a smooth picture without banding artifacts and accurate colors. Scanning LED backlight technology, a 120Hz LCD panel and native interlace mode make the RHDM-2301P an excellent reference for motion handling. The monitor also supports de-interlace and inter-frame handling, Dual Link and 3Gb/s SDI. Additionally, the primaries can be manually adjusted so that film post-production users can make better use of the large LED gamut.
Color stability, color accuracy and motion handling
Next to the RHDM-2301P, Barco also offers a dedicated version for broadcast monitoring environments (RHDM-2301B). Both versions feature all the latest display technology in order to ensure the best color accuracy, stability and motion handling.
The RHDM-2301 monitors have advanced calibration and stabilization technology, integrated into the display's electronics, which tracks color performance in real time and corrects for any changes related to temperature and aging. Thanks to the high-speed 120Hz panel and scanning LED backlight technology, the RHDM-2301 prevents motion blur and judder. Additionally, a black line-insertion algorithm presents native interlaced images without any de-interlacing artifacts, resulting in excellent motion handling and lifelike motion scenes. To ensure color accuracy the RHDM-2301 offers a native 10-bit panel (12-bit with time dithering), calibrated LED backlights, unique 48-bit processing and embedded 3D LUT cross-talk compensation.
