Barco contracts with China Film Group Corporation for 100 digital cinema projectors
Teaming with China film and television giant, Barco is set to roll out its best digital cinema technology in China's major cities.
Beijing, CHINA, 30 March 2009 — Barco, a world leader in visualization and display solutions, has won a major contract with China Film Group Corporation, the largest and most influential state-run film enterprise in China. In cooperation with GDC Technology, a leading partner in providing integrated solutions, Barco will deploy 100 digital cinema projectors in select China cities.
The Barco-CFGC contract calls for the installing Barco's DP-1500 and DP-2000 digital projectors at select venues in a number of China's major cities, including Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou Shenzhen, Haikou, Huizhou, Kunming, Xiamen and Fuzhou among others. A plan has been set forth to have all 100 digital cinema solutions in place by 1 April.
The Barco DP series is a market leading solution that combines superior image quality with cost-effective ownership. Barco has been the main supplier of Digital Cinema systems to China Film Group Corporation since 2002. Barco's market share of more than 80% in Greater China is a result of its continued investment in new projector technologies, digital cinema products and its Chinese resources, support and Business Partners.
During the past seven years, more than 500 Barco digital cinema projectors have been installed in CFGC venues across China. This new contract, along with Barco's overall partnership with CFGC, and the roll-out of 700 systems for GDC Technology in conjunction with CFGC in April 2007, stands as a surefire affirmation of Barco's hold on customer confidence in the China market.
