Barco presents its latest 3D digital technologies at Cinema Expo in Amsterdam
Kortrijk, Belgium, 25 June 2008. Barco, a global leader in digital cinema, is proud to present its 3D solutions to the big audience at this year’s Cinema Expo. Today, Barco’s entire digital cinema projector fleet is suited to show all of the latest 3D digital technologies, hereby confirming its leading position. Barco’s 3D solutions are compatible with all 3D technologies available in the market today. To further develop and improve 3D solutions for the future, Barco works closely together with: REAL-D, Dolby, MasterImage and ExpanD.
At Cinema Expo, Barco introduces an integrated solution based on Dolby’s spectral modulation of light. The DP-1500 and DP-2000 projectors can be provided with a factory-built-in Dolby 3D solution. Barco’s DP-2000 3D solution is an integrated solution, meaning that the filter controller - an external box in the standard Dolby solution – is no longer required. With a 96mm wheel for DP-1500 and DP-2000 and a 125mm wheel for DP-3000, the digital cinema projectors offer sublime 3D reproduction on screen. The single projector set-up can play all movies using the Dolby technology and can handle screens up to approximately 12m.In Amsterdam, Barco also presents its in-house designed Dual 3D solution, based on light polarization. The Barco Dual 3D solution can be used for screens up to 20m and consists of a flexible, easy and simple stacking solution and frame for the DP projector family.
“Our Barco Dual 3D solution is the easiest and cheapest stacking solution in the industry”, says Raf Rentmeesters, Barco’s Global Product Manager for Digital Cinema. “Moreover, our stacking solution can be moved around in the theater in a flexible way and there are no license fees attached. Customers only have a one-off payment.”
