Barco launches high resolution multi-input multiviewer for compact broadcast monitoring

SMV-116 processes up to 16 multi-format inputs

NAB 2008, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, 14 April 2008 – Barco, a leader in display and visualization solutions for selected professional markets, launches the SMV-116, a new compact multiviewer with 16 inputs and one output. The multiviewer is an ideal solution for broadcast monitoring in compact settings, such as smaller OB-vans, editing suites, master control rooms or digital play-out installations.

The SMV-116 offers a complete video monitoring platform with 16 auto-sense video inputs. This offers unmatched input format flexibility, from signals coming from servers, cameras, TV stations, and graphics up to 3G 1080p. It also provides a full suite of audio monitoring with embedded and external audio display. Up to 256 channels of embedded audio can be shown as industry standard bargraphs, and the SMV-116 can monitor up to 32 channels of unmixed audio, analog or AES/EBU.

Barco’s SMV-116 can monitor and decode teletext, subtitles, AFD, WSS and VITC. The compact SMV-116 can be connected with external monitoring systems, providing the operator the option of part-time unmanned monitoring. It offers alarms for video, audio and metadata with outputs to tallies, GPIOs, LAN and/or SNMP traps. There’s an Under Monitor Display (UMD) via keyboard, LAN or serial cable supporting TSL and other protocols, and clock display receiving time information via NTP network protocol or LTC.

Operators can see every possible pixel on the compact high resolution multiviewer. The SMV-116 has one DVI-I output and is compatible with Barco’s color calibrated 42” and 47” LCD displays. It has genlocked inputs for flicker-free images and full frame operation.

Barco’s SMV-116 is the ideal solution for space restricted installations, like OB-vans, editing suites, master control or digital play-out installations. It offers a user-friendly set-up via system menu/browser software and an unmatched uptime through standard redundant power supply. It has a compact design and front panel control or optional 1U remote key panel.

Barco's SMV-116 will be available for sales in autumn 2008.
