Barco receives ETSO-C113 authorization for its 10” Primary Flight Displays
NBAA, Atlanta, GA, USA, 25 September 2007 – Avionics display specialist Barco has received ETSO-C113 authorization for the 10” Primary Flight Displays used in Honeywell’s Primus Apex™ integrated flight deck. The certification recognizes that the displays, marketed by Honeywell as KDU-1080, have successfully met EASA's (European Aviation Safety Agency) standards for airworthiness. In addition to ETSO-C113 regulations, the KDU-1080 displays also comply with the DO-254 level A guidelines specified by the Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics.
Under a very aggressive time schedule, Barco concluded the KDU-1080 development project from initial assignment to certification in less than 18 months. “This achievement is proof of our dedication to quality, commitment to schedule, and continual focus on our customers,” explains Luc Vandenbroucke, Senior Executive Vice President of Barco.The 10.4” KDU-1080 displays used in the Primus Apex suite will be integrated into various business jet applications including the Grob spn and Pilatus PC-12. Primus Apex will provide pilots with sunlight-readable images and a wide viewing angle to enable optimum cross-cockpit visibility. Thanks to their large, XGA resolution (1024x768) screen, the displays will deliver larger views and improved situational awareness.
Series production of the KDU-1080 will rapidly ramp up in the last quarter of 2007 to reach an annual volume of more than 500 the following years.
