Barco adds 24-inch display and extra ruggedization levels to its thin and lightweight display series

DSEI, LONDON, UK – 11 September 2007 - Barco, a leader in display and visualization solutions for selected professional markets, has extended its portfolio of thin and lightweight rugged displays. The first extension is the addition of a new 24-inch display. The second extension involves two extra levels of ruggedization for the entire display series. The two additions offer customers more integration options and allow the display to be integrated into nearly any mounting configuration, application and on nearly any platform.

The latest addition to Barco's TL family of thin and lightweight displays is the 24-inch TL-361. The TL-361 display provides excellent image quality in WUXGA resolution (1920×1200 pixels). Just as the 19-inch (SXGA) and 20-inch (UXGA) TL displays, the TL-361 offers significant benefits with respect to dimensions, ruggedization and intelligence. The display combines low weight and small footprint with a very competitive price/performance value, and can easily be integrated into racks or consoles. The TL-361 comes as a fully drip-proof unit.

Barco's TL display series has also been extended with two extra ruggedization levels, in addition to the standard ruggedization level. The first ruggedization level offers high-level shock specifications, including MIL-STD-901D Grade A, and is especially suited for rugged naval applications. The second ruggedization level has extended vibration and EMI/EMC specifications and is suited for a wide range of more demanding applications, such as airborne applications, vehicles and ground army. “With this extension, Barco’s TL display family is addressing a wider range of military applications,” says Reggy Mortier, Market Director EMEA/APAC at Barco's Security & Monitoring Division. “The two new ruggedization levels are suited for specific naval combat, army and airborne applications and include Barco's unique bonded optical stack, which provide the best possible optical performance in combination with a totally risk-free solution for condensation and other environmental conditions.”

Barco's new TL displays have already been chosen by integrators worldwide, for example by Lockheed Martin UK Ltd. for the Royal Navy's Merlin MK 1 helicopters. Earlier this year, Barco was commended by Frost and Sullivan for its position as best defense COTS provider in Europe. Barco received an award for the excellence of its COTS products, combined with its cost-effectiveness, qualities which are both incorporated into Barco's range of thin and lightweight displays.
