Barco extends range of video wall displays with high-bright version for backdrop applications

IBC 2007, Amsterdam, the Netherlands – 7 September 2007 – Barco, a leader in display and visualization solutions for selected professional markets, announced today that it has extended its OV-D2 range of rear-projection video wall displays with high-bright versions for studio backdrop applications. The high-bright editions of Barco's new OV-D2 series feature a 180 Watt lamp system and have been designed to deal with specific light conditions in TV studio environments.

Barco has launched high-bright versions of its 50", XGA OV-508 and 70", XGA OV-708 video wall systems. Both systems are equipped with 180 Watt lamps with significantly extended lifetimes. With the high-bright versions of its latest OV-D2 video wall series, Barco is offering a backdrop solution that is able to provide the best image quality in the specific lighting conditions of high-bright studio environments.

In addition, the high-bright video walls have a built-in inter-cube video scaling system which allows to present images with a resolution of up to full HD (1920 x 1080) scaled on to the full video wall. The scaling system requires no extra hardware or software and provides the most accurate images without quality loss. Finally, the high-bright OV-508 and 0V-708 provide an optional 3200K color filter for studio environments with artificial lighting.

The high-bright video wall displays build on advanced technology of Barco's OV-D2 video wall series, which was launched in June of this year. As the ideal solution for backdrop and broadcast monitoring applications, the OV-D2 video walls feature the latest DLP™ technology as well as Barco's Sense6 technology, a patented, active sensor-based system that results in uniform brightness, color, contrast and midtones inside each cube and across the entire video wall at any time. Furthermore, Barco's video walls provide excellent on-camera performance with full GenLock capability and offer wide viewing angles for maximum flexibility of camera positions. A dual redundant lamp system with hot-swappable lamps prevents any image loss during broadcast.
