Reba's set shines with Barco LED, projection and image processing
I-MAG Video selects Barco MiPIX LED building blocks, ILite6 XP LED displays, SLM projectors and ImagePRO signal processors for the set of Reba McEntire’s “Key to the Heart” concert series.
Barco announces that Nashville-based I-MAG Video has selected three creative Barco product lines as the cornerstone of Reba McEntire’s exclusive summer concert series at the famous Las Vegas Hilton Theatre.
On the multi-tiered stage, thousands of Barco MIPIX LED blocks are used as the front fascia for the risers. The MIPIX are electronically divided into three separate zones (stairs, top fascia and bottom fascia), and mounted behind diffusion panels for a smooth, soft-focus look. Video is routed to each zone using three ImagePROs to convert the output to SDI. In terms of “texturing” Reba’s songs, the use of MIPIX provides an almost unlimited creative palette.
Behind the set, 120 Barco ILITE XP LED tiles form a 15’ x 18’ video wall, used throughout the performance for live video.
Bruce Green, the show’s Video Director, is an independent contractor who was hired by I-MAG to direct Reba’s Vegas concert series. His credits include performances for Whitney Houston, Eric Clapton and Hilary Duff. “Reba’s show is a nice amalgamation of lighting, video, live camera and playback,” said Green. “When you have a well-produced show with high production values, it’s a pleasure to work with this kind of equipment.”
“I’ve worked with Barco equipment from the early 90’s, but this is my time first dealing with MIPIX,” said Gayle Hase, the show’s Lighting Director. “In fact, I’m treating the Barco MIPIX as lighting elements, and controlling them just like light fixtures. To me, this is video as lighting.”
Dana Corey, Senior Director of Marketing for Barco's Media and Entertainment division commented on Barco’s long-standing relationship with I-MAG Video. “On a nationwide basis, I-MAG Video is recognized for its creative display solutions that embrace technology and generate excitement for the audience," said Corey. "We are very pleased that I-MAG has chosen Barco projection and LED products as the focus of their display solutions — not only for the Reba McEntire tour, but for so many other events of equal prestige.”
