Barco accelerates medical imaging workflow with next generation software suite for advanced visualization

Kortrijk, Belgium, 27 July 2006 - Medical imaging specialist Barco announces the launch of version 6.1 of its advanced visualization and analysis software VOXAR 3D. VOXAR 3D 6.1 incorporates a powerful suite of clinical applications for CT cardiac analysis. As part of the VOXAR 3D 6.1 release, Barco also launches VOXAR 3D ENTERPRISE, designed to deliver rapid, hospital-wide access to advanced visualization inside the radiology reading room and throughout the enterprise.
VOXAR 3D CARDIAMETRIX: a powerful suite of cardiac applications
The new VOXAR 3D 6.1 comes with a full suite of optional clinical applications. One of these is VOXAR 3D CARDIAMETRIX, a powerful application for structural and functional analysis of CT cardiac images. CARDIAMETRIX provides an efficient, intuitive reading methodology for cardiac 4D analysis, coronary vessel analysis, left ventricular analysis and calcium scoring. The user-friendly application incorporates many automated tasks to increase the speed of reading and analyzing. This includes automatic heart and aortic route extraction, automatic contour detection and the ability to automatically segment the entire coronary tree. It makes it possible for physicians to read and report a full cardiac work-up in less than 10 minutes.
VOXAR 3D ENTERPRISE: rapid, hospital-wide access to advanced visualization
As part of the VOXAR 3D 6.1 release, Barco also launches VOXAR 3D ENTERPRISE, a solution that delivers rapid access to advanced visualization within the radiology reading room and throughout the enterprise. VOXAR 3D ENTERPRISE takes advantage of powerful client-server technology and commonly available high-performance graphics cards to accelerate the speed at which image studies can be loaded (1000+ images in less than 10 seconds), read and communicated. Furthermore, VOXAR 3D ENTERPRISE provides real-time interaction with VOXAR 3D's advanced visualization and analysis tools and clinical applications, VESSELMETRIX and CARDIAMETRIX.
VOXAR 3D ENTERPRISE has been designed to be much more than a thin client solution. Fully integrated into PACS, it provides instant access to VOXAR 3D's advanced visualization capabilities. Inside the radiology reading room, VOXAR 3D ENTERPRISE rapidly delivers large volumetric studies to high-performance workstations for local processing and reviewing. When the viewing station is a standard PC or laptop operating over a standard 100Mbit intranet bandwidth, VOXAR 3D ENTERPRISE performs all image processing and streams the results to the screen in real-time from anywhere in the enterprise.
