Barco's solution for rapid hospital-wide access to advanced visualization receives FDA 510(k) clearance
SCAR, Austin, TX, USA, 28 April 2006 - Today, Barco announced it has received 510(k) pre-market clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for its enterprise solution that delivers rapid access to advanced visualization and analysis. VOXAR 3D ENTERPRISE dramatically accelerates the speed at which technologists, radiologists and physicians can load, review, report and communicate large volumetric image studies throughout the enterprise. Combining high-performance graphics cards with powerful off-the-shelf client-server technology, VOXAR 3D ENTERPRISE offers rapid access to VOXAR 3D's advanced visualization tools both inside and outside the radiology reading room.
The unique advantage of the VOXAR 3D ENTERPRISE solution lies in the fact that it delivers its high performance using two strategies. In radiology reading rooms equipped with powerful radiology workstations, VOXAR 3D ENTERPRISE will quickly deliver the complete dataset to the workstation for local processing and viewing. Throughout the rest of the enterprise, where the viewing station is likely to be a standard computer, VOXAR 3D ENTERPRISE will create the advanced visualization views at the server and stream the resulting images to the user's remote computer for review.
VOXAR 3D ENTERPRISE can be integrated directly into an existing Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), providing one-click integration with VOXAR 3D's advanced visualization tools. Alternatively, it can be directly integrated into the radiology workflow where PACS is not present.
