Barco's polypropylene sensor now also available for Rieter, Savio, Saurer-Czech and Rieter-BaseTex Open End machines
Barco is pleased to announce that it has further developed its sensor for detection of polypropylene contamination in O.E. yarn. The sensor, already available for Schlafhorst machines, is now also available for Rieter, Savio, Saurer-Czech and Rieter-BaseTex machines.
In collaboration with the O.E. machine manufacturers, Barco not only designed the sensor for new machines, but also engineered a solution for retrofits. In this way, the polypropylene sensor can be added to most of BARCOPROFILE’s and COROLAB’s install-base, thus safeguarding initial investments.
The polypropylene (PP) detector is added to the BARCOPROFILE yarn clearer in such a way that the yarn barely touches the PP sensing electrode. While the yarn passes, the fibers exchange electrons with the sensor, the so-called Tribo-electric effect. State-of-the-art electronics measure this current and when a synthetic fiber passes, the change in the Tribo-electric current is registered and the polypropylene fiber detected.
The BARCOPROFILE PP sensing head detects transparent, white and colored polypropylene and other synthetic contaminations. The sensor is insensitive to vegetable contamination such as jute and flax, which in most cases can be bleached out later. Its principle of operation enables the BARCOPROFILE PP sensor to function perfectly on cotton-PES blends as well. Just like with all other Barco sensors, the contaminants are reported using a defect classification matrix. Through the clearer settings, disturbing faults will cause the rotor to stop or lock.
In combination with the existing BARCOPROFILE or COROLAB yarn clearer, and the FF-ABS optical foreign fiber detector, Barco is the only supplier to offer a total solution for the elimination of all types of defects and contaminations in O.E. yarn.
