Barco paves the way for hospital-wide access to 3D medical imaging on standard workstations or PCs

New Voxar 3D Enterprise facilitates access to 3D throughout the diagnostic workflow

RSNA, CHICAGO, IL, USA, 27 November 2005 - At RSNA, visualization leader Barco will present Voxar 3D Enterprise, an enhancement to its widely-used VOXAR 3D software designed to provide rapid enterprise-wide access to 3D. Using powerful server-based technology and high-performance ATI graphics processing units (GPUs), Voxar 3D Enterprise dramatically accelerates the speed at which users can load, review, report and communicate patient cases with clinical colleagues. Whether the user is working on a high-performance diagnostic workstation or a standard PC, Voxar 3D Enterprise delivers large volumetric studies faster and provides rapid updates of MPR and 3D views.

Voxar 3D Enterprise builds on the proven visualization and analysis capability of Voxar 3D. Specifically designed to take advantage of Voxar 3D's large number of existing PACS integrations, Voxar 3D Enterprise can be integrated with a hospital's enterprise-PACS for a seamless, unified workflow. Performance is optimized for users of high-performance diagnostic workstations in the radiology reading room. In this environment, users have access to Barco's optional clinical applications VesselMetrix for vessel analysis, and CardiaMetrix for CT cardiac analysis. When using standard, off-the-shelf PCs throughout the enterprise, users can rapidly load and review volumetric image studies with the most commonly used 3D visualization tools. Voxar 3D's site license program makes it an efficient and cost-effective solution, delivering advanced 3D functionality wherever needed.

Voxar 3D Enterprise's impressive visualization performance has been aided by Barco's unique technology cooperation agreement with ATI. This agreement gives Barco the license to optimize ATI's accelerators for medical imaging applications.

CARDIAMETRIX and VOXAR 3D ENTERPRISE are not currently available for commercial distribution in the United States.
