Barco launches new generation of its premium medical diagnostic display system
New Coronis further improves on diagnostic performance, versatility and ergonomics
RSNA, CHICAGO, IL, USA, 27 November 2005 - At this year's RSNA, visualization leader Barco will launch a new generation of its Coronis premium diagnostic display system. Building on Barco's proven medical imaging technology, the new Coronis offers innovation in diagnostic performance, productivity and ergonomics. Major advancements include a breakthrough technology for ultra-bright color imaging; a unique system for truly uniform luminance across the entire screen; a new line of ATI-powered display controllers for increased productivity; a web-based service for transparent calibration and QA; and an integrated pedestal concept for convenient multi-head viewing. The new Coronis family is available in a variety of resolutions, in both grayscale and color.
In response to the growing need for diagnostic color imaging, the latest Coronis family also introduces an innovative, exceptionally bright color display system equipped with Diagnostic Luminance technology. The breakthrough Coronis Color 3MP Diagnostic Luminance offers the benefits of color without compromising on grayscale quality, presenting color and grayscale images with unmatched brightness and contrast for the entire lifetime of the display.
With the growth of image data sets, patient throughput and productivity becomes an ever-increasing concern. Barco's answer is a new generation of ATI-powered display controllers that provide ultra-fast loading, roaming and handling. Backed by a license to adapt ATI's 2D and 3D technology, Barco has the ability to optimize the performance of the ATI graphics accelerators for a variety of medical imaging applications, including 3D-enabled medical imaging.
Featuring an integrated pedestal concept, the new Coronis enables customized multi-head configurations. Thanks to the smart, patent pending pedestal design, the individual heads will move and track as one integrated system when they are being adjusted. Moreover, the very thin bezel ensures enhanced reading comfort in a multi-head setup.
Together with the new Coronis, Barco introduces a brand-new, web-based softcopy QA concept, which brings transparency to the QA routine. Combined with the enhanced I-Guard sensor, the new MediCal QAWeb software provides an easy-to-use tool for calibration and QA, ensuring continuous diagnostic quality and maximum uptime of your workstation. Running in the background, MediCal QAWeb allows you to continue diagnoses while automated QA checks are being executed.
Barco's new Coronis line includes four versions: a 2 MegaPixel grayscale system, a 3 MegaPixel grayscale system, a 2 MegaPixel color system and a 3 MegaPixel color system featuring Barco's unique Diagnostic Luminance technology.
