Barco's new medical color display system boosts color and 3D diagnostic imaging performance
SCAR, Orlando, FL, USA, 2 June 2005 - Barco is proud to announce a significant upgrade to its 2MP color display system. One of the major advances of the upgraded system is its new display controller, which brings enhanced performance, optimized 3D capabilities and compatibility with the latest workstation technology. Other enhancements include a new, high-quality 2MP display and increased user-flexibility. Through these innovations, Barco's upgraded 2MP display system continues to meet the increasing demand of medical professionals for color and 3D imaging applications.
COLOR CORONIS 2MP, Barco's 2MP medical color display system, now comes with a high-performance display controller, designed to support 3D PACS. The COLOR CORONIS display controller is based on the PCI-Express architecture, which maximizes the display system’s image download performance and provides compatibility with the latest PC technology. In addition, Barco's COLOR CORONIS display controller brings faster and smoother 3D operations, with support for OpenGL 1.5 and Microsoft DirectX 9.0 standards. As a result, COLOR CORONIS 2MP is ready for the latest 3D computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance (MR) and positron emission tomography (PET) applications.Also included in the upgrade of Barco's COLOR CORONIS 2MP display system is a new, high-quality 21.3” color display, featuring In-Plane Switching (IPS) technology. IPS provides enhanced viewing angle characteristics, making it easier for additional viewers to aid in the diagnosis from different positions.
Barco's COLOR CORONIS 2MP display system is built on proven CORONIS technology that has provided medical professionals with diagnostic confidence for many years. The front-mounted COLOR I-GUARD sensor constantly monitors image quality and DICOM compliance. The collected viewing performance data is transparently processed and logged with Barco's MEDICAL softcopy QA software. All this technology is brought together in Barco's integrated Product Intelligence (PIN) concept, which ensures worry-free diagnostic reading and image distribution.
