Barco takes center stage at Eurovision Song Contest

Kuurne, Belgium, 20 May 2005 – Barco is proud to announce that this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, which takes place in Kiev on Saturday 21 May, will showcase some of Barco’s latest LED and projection solutions. The spectacular stage design, with Barco technology integrated into the stage floor and backdrop, attests to Barco’s technology leadership in the international events industry.

When the lights go down and the stage lights up for the final this Saturday, an estimated 400 million viewers worldwide will see a spectacular stage featuring more than 350 Barco LED tiles and ten high-brightness projectors for large venues. Barco rental partner Massteknik delivered all visualization equipment used on the show.

The star of this year’s show is surely Barco’s OLite 510. This brand new SMD LED display combines the benefits of indoor and outdoor LED requirements in one reliable, robust LED tile built specifically for the Rental & Staging industry. At the Eurovision Song Contest, this new indoor/outdoor tile, which can be used as functional screen or ‘deconstructed’ to smaller modules suitable to creative applications, is creatively integrated into the design of the stage floor and backdrop.
