Barco remains in BEL 20
Euronext decided to phase in new rules for inclusion in leading Belgian index over the next two years
Kortrijk, 5 January 2005. Barco is glad to inform the worldwide investor community that Euronext has revised its decision to unilaterally change the rules for inclusion in the BEL 20, the leading Belgian index, as of 1 March 2005. As a result of this revision Barco will remain part of the BEL 20 index after 1 March, 2005. The revision came about after strong protest from Barco and other listed companies affected by Euronext’s decision to reduce the number of BEL 20 companies.
In a previous press release dated 21 December, 2004, Barco offered strong arguments for remaining a member of the leading Belgian index. In a joint effort with other parties these arguments have brought Euronext to revise its initial plans.Euronext now proposes a transitional measure, which allows the five companies involved to remain part of the BEL 20 until 31 december 2005. If at that time they have made a significant progress in terms of free float market capitalisation, they will be granted a one-year respite. On 31 December 2006, the new minimum requirements for free float market capitalisation will be permanently implemented.
The above means an acknowledgement of Barco’s successful efforts in recent years to increase its international shareholdership and the liquidity of its share.
