New generation DICOM THEATER improves on performance and functionality

KORTRIJK, BELGIUM, 17 November 2004 – Barco is pleased to announce the release of two next generation medical grade projection systems, DICOM THEATER Lite and DICOM THEATER Pro, for use in medical review and conferencing environments. Significantly improving upon performance and functionality, and following on Barco’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards in medical imaging, the new DICOM THEATER systems confirm their position as the number one solution for large-screen, high-quality medical viewing.

DICOM THEATER projection systems have been optimized for PACS viewing, but also displays other sources, such as endoscopy, ultrasound, computer data or moving video sources with great accuracy. Therefore, DICOM THEATER provides the optimum solution to meet the growing demand for large-screen imaging in professional environments.

Barco’s DICOM THEATER Lite is the latest addition to the DICOM THEATER line. The compact yet sophisticated DICOM THEATER Lite unites high brightness and a native SXGA+ resolution (1400x1050) in a user-friendly, portable design. DICOM THEATER Lite is fully compliant to the DICOM quality standards for accurate image representation. The system delivers first-class projections with extremely high contrast (2000:1), comfortable light output (2000 Ansi Lumen) and optimum crispness. In addition, audiences will be impressed with the projector’s ultra-silent operation and lightweight design. With the addition of a BARCOMED display controller, connectivity to PACS workstations is seamless.

The DICOM THEATER line also includes DICOM THEATER Pro, Barco’s new top-of-the-line medical projection system, combining professional optical performance with the ability to display multiple sources from a single projector. DICOM THEATER Pro bundles a powerful MGP 15 projector, a dedicated BARCOMED display controller, and MEDICAL Pro QA software into a flexible, high-grade projection solution. The solution can also be combined with one or more flat panel displays to provide a complete system. The projector’s integrated smart dual lamp design and advanced high-resolution Poly-Si LCD technology guarantee exceptional brightness (4500 Ansi Lumen) and excellent, sharp details. In addition, DICOM THEATER Pro integrates Barco’s unique I-GUARD sensor technology, which brings continuous image stabilization and DICOM conformance to the projected images.
