GMO utilizes Barco 908SP projectors in WASP-I-D Systems for Lockheed Martin

Austin, TX – Glass Mountain Optics (GMO) ordered 20 BarcoReality 908 Split Pack projectors to install in WASP-I-D display systems being delivered to Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth.

“The BarcoReality 908SP delivers outstanding visual fidelity required for the simulated training Lockheed Martin performs,” said Steve McCullough, Vice President and General Manager of Barco Simulation, Xenia. “We are excited to be a part of GMO’s WASP display systems, and we look forward to integrating more of our systems with GMO products.”

The WASP-I-D system will be using Barco 908 split pack projectors and is for an F-35 Joint Strike Fighter simulator for use in the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Flight Simulation Laboratory in Ft. Worth, Texas. Each WASP-I-D display system includes high-performance Barco CRT projectors and a flat screen in a multi-faceted mini dome to produce a full 360º field of view. The systems also include an advanced screen system design producing a near seamless scene and incorporating a specially developed screen coating to maximize performance and scene illumination.

Barco’s 908SP is an 8" CRT projector designed to meet limited-space requirements for immersive Simulation and V&AR display systems. The 908SP is cutting-edge technology in a rugged design for optimal flexibility in demanding applications. It combines outstanding light output with exceptional contrast and rich true color images for high-performance visualization in, for example, shipbridge, flight, and driving simulators.

The Barco 908SP offers Contrast Modulation, Soft Edge Matching, and Convergence on Green. Overlapping zones are completely phased out in multiple-screen applications. It includes TSN™ 6-pole focus astigmatism correction for superb focus quality across the entire projected image, and digital Auto-Image™ automatically aligns all geometry and convergence parameters. The 908SP also has built-in Scheimpflug optical correction, with stepless adjustment, for optimal optical focus for off-axis projection (optimal focus under non-standard angles).
