Barco Mega-CADWall and Galaxy SXGA+TM systems to reign supreme at SIGGRAPH 2004
Los Angeles – Visit booth 1936 at SIGGRAPH in the Los Angeles Convention Center and witness the power of Barco’s technology as they demonstrate the new Galaxy SXGA+ projection system and the Barco Mega-CADWall.
“Barco Simulation will demonstrate its capabilities with two new solutions,” said Yoav Nir, Business Unit Manager for Virtual & Augmented Reality for Barco Simulation. “The unlimited display capabilities of the Barco Mega-CADWall is truly impressive, and the new Galaxy SXGA+ offers a variety of configurations to ensure compatibility for even the most demanding applications.”
This year at SIGGRAPH, Barco will debut its new Galaxy SXGA+ Plus active stereo projection systems. The new Galaxy SXGA+ gives an unprecedented resolution of 1400 x 1050, greater than 12% more pixels compared to the SXGA versions. The SXGA+ offers four variations of the stereo-dedicated Galaxy projector:
- Galaxy 4 LL+ “Long Life”: lamp life up to 2000 hours
- Galaxy 6 Classic+: 1000:1 contrast ratio
- Galaxy 9 HC+ “High Contrast”: 1500:1 contrast ratio
- Galaxy 12 HB+ “High Brightness”: up to 12000 ANSI lumens light output
All versions are also available in mono.
Barco will also unveil the new Mega-CADWall at SIGGRAPH 2004. The Mega-CADWall is a blended 2x2 array projection solution for ultra high-resolution applications. At SIGGRAPH, the Mega-CADWall will display high-resolution applications from an SGI Onyx computer. The system is driven by four single-chip DLP SIM 4 projectors with a native resolution of 1280 x 1024 each. Barco’s Mega-CADWall is scalable to any size and any resolution.
Visitors to Barco’s booth will notice that it is comprised of the VCADTM, Barco’s Virtual Collaboration, Analysis & Decision tool. The VCAD will display high-resolution stereo 3D applications from ORAD, Virtools, and RTT. The VCAD will be powered by two blended, high-brightness Barco Galaxy SXGA+ projectors. The system will also utilize the A.R.T. wireless tracking system. The A.R.T. allows users to interact with the PC, database, and screen to manipulate images in real-time. It allows the user to be fully immersed in the virtual environment and manipulate objects in a fluid manner. The VCAD is Barco’s high-end, multi-media visualization center designed for visualizing complex data in 3D.
SIGGRAPH 2004 will bring nearly 25,000 computer graphics and interactive technology professionals from six continents to Los Angeles for the weeklong conference, 8-12 August. A comprehensive technical program and special events focusing on research, art, animation, games, interactivity, and the web are planned. SIGGRAPH 2004 includes a three-day exhibition of products and services for the computer graphics and interactive marketplace from 10-12 August 2004. The annual SIGGRAPH conference is sponsored by ACM SIGGRAPH, the leading professional society for computer graphics and interactive techniques.
