Barco launches new Modular Rugged Display Station for processing and display in high-resolution
EUROSATORY, PARIS-NORD, VILLEPINTE, FRANCE, 14 June 2004 – On the occasion of this year’s Eurosatory show, Barco is pleased to present the MRDS, its latest Modular Rugged Display Station family. Combining Barco’s proven rugged display technology with state-of-the-art processing power, the new MRDS is a perfect solution for processing and display in high-resolution on board naval, airborne or land-based applications.
The MRDS combines a state-of-the-art Display Processing Module (DPM) with a full range of Rugged Display Modules (RDM) that are already proven in military applications worldwide. The station’s DPM is based on a unique modular architecture, offering a flexible configuration to meet specific customer requirements. It can include network, peripheral and sensor interfaces, extended storage media and uninterruptible power supply capabilities.Bringing all of the benefits of modularity and integrated processing together, the MRDS uses Barco’s full range of RDMs, ranging from 17” to 24”, with resolutions from 1280x1024 to 1920x1200. Depending on the selected RDM, functions such as high-brightness, Night Vision Goggles (NVG) compatibility, Touch Screen option, low dimming and more are available.
In order to keep track of the fast changing processor, I/O and network evolutions, Barco’s DPM uses an open standard processor form factor, which supports long term upgradability. Both a full and semi-rugged version is available, offering an economical solution for a variety of environmental conditions. The MRDS family provides an ideal platform for Barco’s network enabled solutions, such as the newest Radar or Video Distribution and Display Systems, Barco’s state-of-the-art solutions for networked distribution and display of radar or video information.
