Barco introduces revolutionary high-definition, 16:9 projector at InfoComm 2004
Atlanta, GA – Barco is pleased to announce the introduction of its new iCon H600 network centric visualization solution, featuring a native 1920 x 1080 HDTV resolution and 16:9 wide aspect ratio. The remarkable 6,000 ANSI lumen LCD projector is equipped with a powerful integrated display server and features advanced picture-in-picture (PIP) functionality. The iCon’s progressive features create a visual canvas capable of displaying multiple sources on just one screen, making the projector an ideal solution for higher-education classroom environments, museums, corporate boardrooms, and videoconferencing rooms.
The networkable iCon was designed to provide the end user with a cost-efficient, reliable, high-quality and user-friendly solution. The projector’s integrated server is easily adapted to the user’s network infrastructure, enabling instant, collaborative meetings between remote meeting sites. Control over a projector can be passed instantly over LAN to any meeting location. For example, changes made to a spreadsheet in an office in Europe can be viewed real-time in the office in the US, and vice versa. In addition, presenters are able to retrieve any file from the network straight from the projector, eliminating the need to bring along laptops to meetings. With the ability to perform real-time interaction and file sharing between remote sites, users realize increased business efficiency by eliminating the need for travel and accelerating the decision making process, resulting in a positive effect on the user’s Return On Investment (ROI).The iCon is equipped with a powerful, upgradeable Pentium 4-based platform display server and a Windows XP operating system. The projector’s user-friendly graphical user interface (GUI) enables users to control all content with their mouse and keyboard, eliminating the need of the traditional remote control. The iCon’s desktop remains visible as a full screen backdrop, with freely positional windows on top, showing other video and data sources. Information is effortlessly obtained from the company’s network to the projector and is as easy to use as your own laptop.
The iCon also saves the user money on support and maintenance. Due to the integrated server in the projector, a fleet of projectors can be fully controlled over the network from the central IT Helpdesk. There is no need for support staff to run to meeting rooms to adjust projector settings. These adjustments can be made remotely and instantly (over the network) right from their desks. Barco offers dedicated software called “Remote Control & Diagnostics” to enable remote Helpdesk support.
The iCon offers several unique benefits, including advanced picture-in-picture. The projector can simultaneously display up to four video or data picture-in-picture (PIP) inserts, allowing the end user to project onto a large screen area and show multiple pictures with just one projector. By using the wireless keyboard and mouse, external content can be freely positioned and scaled to suit the user’s specific presentation needs. The iCon is also ready for streaming media, allowing users to stream video material over the network. Frequently used video material can even be saved on the hard disk of the projector to be retrieved upon demand. The projector also features dual 300W UHP lamps, ensuring uninterrupted presentations and eliminating the need to invest in a backup unit. If one lamp fails for any reason, the other lamp will continue operating, ensuring a successful presentation.
The Barco iCon will be available in Q4.
