Barco introduces converter set for Loomdata 4
Barco is pleased to announce that it has complemented its successful converter sets for Loomdata 2 and Loomdata 3 with a converter set for Loomdata 4 hardware. This new converter package allows customers of the now bankrupt Loomdata to upgrade to Barco’s WEAVEMASTER system, without having to rewire the weaving room or replace data collection stations.
For some years now, Barco has been offering Loomdata 2 and 3 customers the option to migrate to Barco’s WEAVEMASTER system, without having to re-invest in the data collection hardware. At ITMA2003, when it became clear that Loomdata had filed for bankruptcy, customers started to ask for a converter set for the Loomdata 4 data collection hardware. Based upon its wireless data communication technology demonstrated at ITMA2003, Barco has developed a Loomdata 4 converter, which is now available. In the Loomdata 4 data collection terminal, an electronic board is added, which allows for wireless data communication between the weaving machine and Barco’s WEAVEMASTER system. In this way, WEAVEMASTER makes no distinction between Barco data units and converted Loomdata boxes. The converter set is available for weaving machines with parallel interfaces as well as microprocessor-based looms with RS232/VDI interfaces.
With the Loomdata converter set, customers can move to WEAVEMASTER without having to rewire the weaving room or having to buy new data collection stations. All they need is a converter set per loom and the WEAVEMASTER server and software. Once connected to the PC network of the mill, users can view reports and retrieve data from the WEAVEMASTER system.
The Loomdata input / output modules remain in use, which means that no rewiring at the looms is required. Between the looms, only the power cords remain in use, as data transmission is handled through wireless data communication. Also the SUN/Unix server is no longer needed, as WEAVEMASTER uses a Windows-based server.
Loomdata parts that remain in use after the conversion are fully serviceable by Barco’s worldwide service organization. This means that the service responsibility is very clear, with no room for misunderstanding.
