Barco launches 20.1” rugged flat display for night bridge applications
New RFD 251NB presents superior contrast performance in extreme low ambient light conditions
SEA-AIR-SPACE, WASHINGTON D.C., USA, 6 April 2004 – Barco is proud to introduce the RFD 251NB night bridge display, a brand-new member of its 20.1” Rugged Flat Display (RFD) series. The RFD 251NB is specifically engineered for operation in low ambient light conditions, typically found on ship bridges during nighttime. The display can be dimmed to extremely low light levels, previously only achievable with CRT technology. Moreover, the RFD 251NB unit meets the most demanding shock, temperature and vibration standards.
Barco’s RFD 251NB is the latest addition to a full range of 20.1” rugged flat displays, of which already more than 8000 units are operational worldwide. The fully qualified and field-proven RFD series features unique front bonding technology to protect the display against humidity and condensation and to significantly improve optical performance. The RFD is direct 19” rack mountable, has a shop-replaceable backlight tray and can be remotely controlled via a serial link. The Automatic Phase Adjust (APA) function continuously synchronizes the display sampling clock to the drifting analog video signal, thus avoiding image artifacts. Furthermore, the RFD series can be equipped with Barco's unique patented LCD Flicker Compensation solution (LFC), ensuring flicker-free images, specifically for sonar applications.
The RFD 251NB night bridge display will be revealed at this year’s Sea-Air-Space show.
