Barco announces availability of its visualization products for simulation through SGI Professional Services
Barco products expand SGI Professional Services solutions portfolio for visual applications
Xenia, Ohio – Barco and Silicon Graphics (NYSE: SGI), through its Professional Services organization, today announced the availability of visualization solutions for the Virtual and Augmented Reality (V&AR) market. SGI Professional Services will market Barco’s sophisticated TRACE™ (Team Room Application Collaboration Environment) and VCAD™ (Virtual Collaboration, Analysis and Decision-Making) visual display systems under the SGI® Reality Center Insight™ CX and SGI® Command Center product names, respectively. These new solutions are available through SGI’s North American network as standalone solutions or integrated with a suite of powerful systems including the SGI® Onyx® family of visualization systems or the Silicon Graphics® Tezro™ visual workstation. This new product offering broadens SGI’s visual solutions portfolio for government and defense, sciences, manufacturing, energy and media industries.
“This marketing arrangement allows us to deliver a wide range of visualization solutions to the V&AR marketplace, from small- to large-scale applications,” said Steve McCullough, Vice President and General Manager of Barco Simulation. “SGI Professional Services is an important partner in this effort because of their unique strengths and solid reputation in the visualization marketplace. We can leverage their imaging expertise and unparalleled products to deliver a comprehensive system solution.”
“Barco Simulation has an outstanding reputation for delivering leading-edge visual display solutions to its customer, and the TRACE and VCAD solutions are among those,” said Bob Pette, director of SGI Professional Services, North America. “By marketing these solutions under the SGI umbrella, SGI Professional Services offers our customers broader solutions for visualizing, collaborating and analyzing complex data to meet their business and application requirements.”
SGI Reality Center Insight CX
Under the new arrangement, SGI will market Barco’s TRACE system under the brand name of SGI Reality Center Insight CX. This state-of-the-art display system incorporates the functionality of a large-scale visualization system into a cost-effective, portable, plug-and-play solution. It is designed to fit through a standard door opening without requiring any room modifications or build-out. The system enables teams to visualize data in a well-lit room, allowing for better eye-to-eye collaboration. Active 3D stereo display enhances intuitive understanding and accurate analysis of the complex data in a compact system. Real-time interaction with the data leads to quick team decision-making. SGI Reality Center Insight CX is scalable from a one-channel to multi-channel configuration. Typical applications include oil & gas exploration, engineering design, high-end video conferencing and real-time collaboration, and immersive training and simulation.
SGI Command Center
SGI will also integrate Barco’s VCAD system and market the solution as the SGI Command Center. This revolutionary tool is uniquely designed for visualizing and analyzing multifaceted data. The system can simultaneously display various types of large data sets on multiple displays and graphically render key relationships within the data in stereo 3D. Additional information can be displayed on the large LCD panels and monitors on both side wings. Thanks to near-real-time, simultaneous access to the current common picture, the VCAD system allows simultaneous collaboration with other sites. Applications include Homeland Security, military planning, network and cyber security and intelligence review and data analysis
Barco Simulation has teamed with SGI Professional Services to implement a number of successful visual display projects. Installations range from virtual prototyping in the automotive industry, oil and gas exploration, molecular modeling, medical surgery, and scientific research.
