Barco and Toyo Corporation join forces to provide medical modality OEM solutions for the Japanese market
KORTRIJK, BELGIUM / TOKYO, JAPAN 17 December 2003 – Barco and Toyo Corporation are pleased to announce the set-up of a joint venture company in Japan. Barco and Toyo will each own 50% of the shares of the newly formed company, which will be called Barco-Toyo Medical Systems Japan Co., Ltd. Barco has a wide experience in providing high-performance display technology for medical modality applications, such as X-ray, ultrasound and magnetic resonance viewing and is the world’s leading supplier of displays for PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication Systems). Toyo Corporation has a thorough knowledge of the needs and demands of the Japanese medical modality OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers) market. Barco and Toyo Corporation will combine their expertise in order to provide customized solutions for the growing Japanese medical imaging market. Today Toyo Corporation is already Barco’s distributor for the Japanese PACS market.
Barco-Toyo Medical Systems Japan Co., Ltd. will focus on developing Barco’s custom modality OEM solutions for the Japanese market. For many years, Toyo Corporation has been Barco’s exclusive distributor of medical imaging solutions in Japan. The newly formed company takes Barco and Toyo’s successful cooperation one step further and strengthens their long-standing relationship.“This agreement confirms our confidence in the growing Japanese modality OEM business,” says Luc Vandenbroucke, President of BarcoView. “We are committed to grow in the medical imaging market by offering customized image processing solutions to medical equipment suppliers worldwide. Barco-Toyo Medical Systems Japan Co., Ltd. will be based at the Toyo headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. The joint-venture agreement was signed on 17 December 2003.
