Barco’s DP2K Digital Cinema Projectors win prestigious BIRTV award
Shanghai, China, 14 September 2010 – The 19th Beijing International Radio, TV and Film Equipment Exhibition (BIRTV 2010), held last month, attracted over 300 world-renowned manufacturers. During the exhibition, Barco's DP2K digital cinema projectors won the 'Best Product' award – once again confirming Barco's leading position in the field of digital cinema.
Organized by the State Administration of Radio Film and Television, the BIRTV is China's most prestigious exhibition in the radio, film and TV industry. The competition section, introduced in 2003, is becoming the premiere stage for exhibitors to present their latest products as well as guidelines for purchasers. This year, 110 applications from 46 companies were submitted for this competition. Spotlighting new developments, integration and competition, the BIRTV awards are indicators of the current state-of-the-art in radio, TV and film technology.
During the BIRTV, the panel of judges spoke highly of Barco's DP2K C Series and B Series digital projectors. Yuelin Bao, Chief of Film Production, Screening and Distribution, said: “As Barco's 2nd generation cinema projector, the DP2K presents the latest in digital projector technology. Its higher integration and better performance safeguard the digital copies of the films, while its modular design leaves room for future updates to support the 4K enhanced technology.”

About the DP2K Digital Cinema Projectors
In addition to the technical advantages derived from the previous platform, at least 18 key technology innovations have been applied to the design and system operation of the DP2K series. The platform integrates the multiple functions of 3 board cards (the interface board, the color processing board, and the formatting board) into a single processing chip, and then forms images through the 1.2' DC2K driver or the 0.98' DC2K digital film clip. As the improvements enable the platform to support 4K enhanced resolution digital film data, the platform is '4K Ready'. In other words, all digital film projectors based on that platform can be upgraded from 2K to 4K. Along with the maximum unification of spare-parts standards and the more detailed modular design, Barco is producing projectors with the highest brightness and the more diversified 3D solutions.
