Barco Federal Systems showcases latest rugged/avionics displays, sensor processing and software solutions for C4ISR at Sea Air Space show

At this year's Sea Air Space, Barco will demonstrate its recently expanded array of products focused on enhancing situational awareness in defense programs using the latest C4ISR tools. A highlight of the show will be a live demonstration of Barco's HD-30 with multi-touch capability, its recently optimized distributed visualization platform featuring a unique human machine interface (HMI) for improved control, display and sharing of video, graphics and data.

Duluth, Georgia, USA – 7 April 2011 – Visualization pioneer Barco is presenting a wide range of mission-critical rugged displays, compact cockpit displays, and sensor processing and mission recording software solutions at this year's Navy League-sponsored Sea Air Space exhibition, the largest maritime exposition focused on sea power technology in the world. The event will be held April 11th-13th at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland, with Barco exhibiting in Booth #527.

Tying together several of Barco's innovative products for the defense industry, is an enhanced distributed visualization platform that leverages the capabilities of Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) to enable multiple decision makers to create and control customized images/data by accessing, displaying, sharing, recording, archiving and playing back information. Built around Barco's HD-30 with multi-touch panel, the Command Room Management Suite software enables the user to create a flexible, highly adaptable system with a dynamic human interface enabling users to push and pull data, video and graphics from anywhere, to anywhere. The intuitive way of using the system improves the operational efficiency and the availability of all information on one single Command Panel, increasing the shared situational overview.

“Barco has been at the forefront of developing game-changing technologies for the defense market, channeling our energies into creating the best C4ISR tools to enable enhanced command and control for U.S. Navy program operators,” commented Ron Farine, VP Sales for Barco Federal Systems. “We're excited to present our latest concepts that will drive the future of distributed visualization leveraging the latest SOA opportunities.”

Also on display, will be Barco's HD wide-screen models (HD-30 and HD-40); 10-bit flat panel (RFD-357) designed for the US Navy “Team Sub,” which withstands the harshest environments, and the ultra-high (resolution, 6 MP) display. Fully MIL-qualified, all feature bright, crisp graphics, wide viewing angle and fast response time. Barco is also demonstrating its rugged display processing module (DPM-2), which delivers powerful graphics and computing performance, including networked real-time video streaming and processing enabled by Barco's video distribution and processing software.

Barco's new software-based mission recorder, the MR-300, enables capture, archival and management of critical audio, video, full display and even meta-data across a wide range of military sub-systems. This capability is essential for post-mission analysis, system training and legal aspects of mission requirements. A cost-effective alternative to hardware-based systems, the MR-300 features minimal size/weight and CPU load, adjustable frame rate, local or remote storage, and seamless integration within BARCO's current VISTA consoles, DPM rugged workstations and system software.

Extending network visualization into the wireless arena, Barco will be demonstrating its new tablet PC technology for the Defense market, leveraging similar capabilities and expertise from the company's industry-leading commercial products. This 10” rugged mobile unit operates as a wireless workstation to which intelligence data and images are streamed. With touch screen control, lightweight design, and smart swappable battery for seamless, continuous operation, it also features a 2 MP camera, 3 USB ports and Ethernet connectivity.

For the avionics market, the CHDD-268, a highly compact cockpit display capable of both DVI and analog video processing, will be presented alongside several other models. All of these feature sunlight-readable displays and support Barco's MOSArt® modular open system architecture.
